DIY How to Tie a Monkey’s Fist Decorative Knot
Monkey’s fist is one of my favorite knots which looks somewhat like a small bunched fist. Originally used as a heavy line knot for sailors, it is now more popular as a decorative knot and can be found in many crafts and fashion projects. Here is a nice tutorial on how to tie a simple monkey’s fist decorative knot with fingers. You can use different thickness of the rope or cord to make different sizes of knots. You may use a small ball or bead in the center of the knot to help obtain a more perfect round shape. This knot is light-weighted and stylish and can be used for key chains, decorative buttons, pendants and so on. Practice a few times and you’ll get a nice perfectly round and tight monkey’s fist knot.
